The Nativity, hand crafted by Robert Foster,
a prominent Houston stained glass artist and craftsman, was graciously
donated to the church in 1988.
It measures 32" by 48" and is composed
of over one hundred delicately cut colored glass pieces mounted
in 1/4" lead channel. This exquisite work is in the North
wall of the foyer and was placed on the sanctuary centerline so
that it could be viewed from the footpace and center aisle. The
artist and his wife were present at the dedication ceremony.
Chandeliers, which had been put on the “back burner”
due to the $1500 price tag per chandelier; were found through
the advice of a man who came to see our progress. When we said
that we weren’t sure what to do about lighting, he told
us that he had seen several handeliers in a Roswell, N.M. flea-market.

He arranged to have someone confirm that they
were still available and take some pictures for us. When the photos
arrived, we knew they were perfect and left for Roswell immediately.
The chandeliers had hung in Patterson Hall, the main auditorium
of the New Mexico Military Institute, since 1939. Arriving in
Roswell, we tracked down 4 of the chandeliers in the flea-market
and 4 more in an abandoned grain silo downtown. The original pebbled
glass was missing in many panels and what remained was of different
shades of yellow-brown or green. The glass was removed, the wiring
checked, the fixture painted gold and the glass replaced with
translucent white Plexiglas. Four of the units hang regally in
the sanctuary.
