Remodeling of the former paint and body shop
consisted of the removal of large overhead doors, replacing defective
structural elements, insulating walls and ceilings, installing
heating and cooling systems, re-roofing with 1 1/2 inches of urethane
foam, resurfacing and tiling of floors, and resurfacing of the
parking lot and extensive landscaping. Additions to the building
included a sizable vestibule and fellowship hall with facilities.
The new electrical demands required total rewiring.
On October 8, 1992, after a short service offered by Archbishop
John Rankin to bless the parish's endeavors, the demolition of
the interior of the industrial facility began. This effort was
dubbed, "Operation Jericho."

With the interior stripped to the framing, and the floor swept,
the initial prayer service, a Vespers, was served on the First
Sunday of Advent, November 29, 1992. Presiding was The Rev. Mtr.
Sara Yonce who was visiting from Oklahoma with The Right Rev.
Winifred Blair and Sr. Janice Marie Mapin assisting.
The realities of winter cold followed by grueling summer heat
postponed additional services until the new sanctuary was completed
3 ½ years later. An interim chapel, utilizing available office
space in the adjacent rectory, served the parish's needs during
the long project.
Relying upon the vision of Transfiguration's missionary pastor,
this industrial site has now become a magnificent parish church.
